Dental Insurance and Braces

September 15, 2022

Our mission at Utah Orthodontic Care has been to make braces affordable for Salt Lake City residents for over 35 years. Our father founded the practice in 1976 to make braces affordable to everyone. We continue to provide high-quality, affordable orthodontic treatment in our nine locations throughout Utah today.

How Dental Insurance Works

Orthodontics are usually covered by dental insurance at a percentage of the cost, making the treatment more affordable.

As an example, if your dental insurance plan covers 50 percent of orthodontic treatment, and your orthodontist recommends a $3,000 treatment plan, your insurance would cover $1,500. The remaining $1,500 would be your responsibility. We have payment plans that are never over $119 a month and in-house, no credit check financing.

You should check with your insurance company before starting orthodontic treatment to see how much coverage you have. Insurance companies offer different coverage levels for orthodontics (and other dental procedures). For instance, ask your agent, “Does dental insurance cover braces?”

Some plans do not cover orthodontics, while others may cover 100 percent of the cost. Keep in mind that most dental insurance plans will only cover a certain amount for all dental procedures combined each year–so even if your plan covers orthodontics, there may be a limit.

However, we can assist you with that. We’ll sit down with you to review your dental insurance to ensure you’re getting the maximum benefits. We can also answer your questions, such as “Does dental insurance cover braces?”

We’ll explain your coverage and find any savings opportunities you may be missing. Let us help you get the coverage you need.

Are You Considering Braces?

The use of braces can be used to correct a wide range of orthodontic issues. For instance, braces can close gaps between teeth, align crooked teeth, or even correct an overbite or underbite.

Many people choose braces for functional as well as cosmetic reasons. Straight teeth are easier to clean and less likely to develop cavities.

Talk to us about what type of braces would be best for you if you are considering getting braces. Even if you think your teeth are straight enough, braces may still be necessary. If you’re concerned about how they might look, consider the benefits of Invisalign.
