Packing Lunches For Braces Patients

June 1, 2020|

Whether you’re heading to camp for several weeks, or just taking a day trip out to the lake, there’s no question that you’ll need to bring along plenty of food to keep yourself fueled up and ready for summer fun. Packing lunch doesn’t have to be intimidating! As your provider of affordable braces in Salt Lake City, Utah Orthodontic Care has compiled the following snack and lunch ideas to help you stay full while keeping your braces happy.

Choosing Your Foods

If you’ll be spending the day being active outdoors, a lunch full of protein and whole grains is important to fuel your body. Try packing any of the following:

  • Sandwich on soft whole wheat bread
  • Cheese sticks
  • Hummus
  • Yogurt
  • Applesauce
  • Fruit cups
  • Macaroni & cheese
  • Nutri-grain bars
  • Pudding
  • Soft cake or cookies

Choosing Your Drinks

Water is the most important drink you should pack with your lunch. Even if you’ll be having other drinks, be sure to include water and drink it daily. It’s fine to have sugary beverages like soda, juice or Gatorade, but limit these drinks to once a day to keep your smile in top shape.

Brush Or Rinse After Your Meal

If you can make it happen, brush your teeth after eating to rid your teeth of any leftover food particles that may cause bacteria or lead to cavities. If it’s not possible or practical to brush your teeth, rinse your mouth with water to help wash away any food stuck in your teeth. If you take good care of your smile while wearing braces, you’ll achieve the best results from your treatment, and before you know it, you’ll be staring at your brand new, beautiful smile!
