Dr. Kunkel’s Bio
Dr. Kunkel was born in Toronto, Ontario, and grew up in Indianapolis, IN. He attended Indiana University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Science, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honors Society.
After graduation, Dr. Kunkel spent a year in Vail, CO working as a clinical research intern before heading back to home to attend dental school at the Indiana University Dental School. He graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honors Society!
Following dental school, he received his Masters in Dental Sciences at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, specializing in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In addition, Dr. Kunkel is an esteemed member of the American Association of Orthodontics, as well as the American Dental Association.

Dr. Kunkel and his wife, Mary, recently moved to Utah to join UOC’s elite team, as well as to pursue their passion for the great outdoors! Dr. Kunkel enjoys spending quality time with his wife and dog, participating in a wide variety of outdoor activities including: running, mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing, boating, rock climbing, and snowboarding! As a highly trained orthodontist, Dr. Kunkel loves being able to work with children, adolescents, and adults to help give them the beautiful smiles they deserve!
